New ACS Federal President

Congratulations to Ron Johanson ACS who has been elected as the new Federal President of the ACS at the Annual General Meeting in Sydney just last month. Ron was inducted into the ACS Hall of Fame in 2003 and was made a Life Member of the Society in 2007 following his many years of service to both Queensland branch and the Federal Executive.

HPX3000 Feature Picked Up!

Laid To Rest, a new high-def horror film by renowned special effects artist Robert Hall (Superbad, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Pineapple Express) and starring Lena Headey (300, Terminator: TV Series) has been picked up and is looking at a Feb/09 release. The first film to be shot with the new AVC-Intra codec hall said that he “loved the tapeless workflow, and when Laid to Rest was in the planning stages I knew I wanted to avoid the lab, telecine and transfer costs of my first feature (the critically acclaimed Lightning Bug, shot on 16mm),”

The Australian Cinematographers Society had their ACS50 event last week to celebrate the 50th anniversary. Congratulations to the award winners and we are proud to have been affiliated with the ACS over the years.

George Miller Shoots P2!

The new movie "Prey" by director George Miller (The Man from Snowy River, Neverending Story II) has been shot on the Panasonic HPX-2100 and is currently in Post-Production. It goes to show the level of quality and successful workflow of the P2 system!

Pro Cam Goes Apple

Pro Cam has just taken delivery of 2 full Final Cut Pro Suites and 3 Mini Macs. This will allow easy work flow with our P2 cameras.

PAST WHAT'S NEW?

Panasonic will be presenting their new HPX302 camera at PRO-CAM Studios on Thursday the 2nd of April. The new camera features the new AVC-Intra 422 10 bit codec on a 2.2 megapixel 1/3" chip with full native 1920x1080. Come and have a see and touch of the new HPX302 and the whole line of Panasonic cameras.

Pro-Cam Cameras and gear were used to shoot this documentary chronicling the amazing journey of the Loggerhead Turtle as it travels round trip from Australia to South America. The crew have just arrived back from Peru and Mon Repos, check out some pictures here.

Appearing in QLD on December 3rd at The Pavillion, this seminar will run through P2 technology, tapeless workflows and AVCHD.

There are 2 sessions running from 11am-2:30pm and 5pm-8:45pm. Everyone is encouraged to go as this type of technology is growing so rapidly we all need to be up to date.

With its origins in the EX1 the EX3 comes on top with an all improved body design allowing a more shoulder oriented shooting style. Buttons have also been shuffled around alleviating some of the EX1's shortcomings and the system now features an interchangable lens system. The included Fujinon HD glass is sharp and well suited but you can now use full 1/2" broadcast glass from the larger XDCAM cameras with the included convertor. Add another 1/2" to 2/3" convertor and you have access to all the broadcast market lenses can offer, brilliant! You can hire this new camera for $290/day (pre GST) $309/day (inc GST) with the full production kit (Card, Batteries, Tripod).

We have added the high definition Fujinon Cine Zoom lens to our catalogue, if you are looking for that superior look where normal HD lenses can't go then the Fuji Cine Zoom is for you. The Canon 1Ds MarkIII is another milestone in the stills category with a 21.1 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor. It is the top of the line camera available from Canon featuring Dual "DIGIC II" processors, EOS auto sensor cleaning technology, ISO 100-1600 (expandable to L:50 H:3200), 3.0” 230K pixel LCD with Live View mode and many more features too long for this page. We have also taken delivery of a 1Ds MarkII (16.7MP) as well, complementing our stills section and ensuring that Pro-Cam is one of the leading hirers of high-end digital SLRs in QLD!

We have also taken delivery of the new Sony HVR-S270P which does HDV on large format tapes. This gives the shooter upto 276mins of HDV. This is the most professional HDV out to date with a shoulder mount, interchangable lenses, V-Lock battery, 4 channel XLR and Dovetail plate mount. The camera also features Compact Flash recording on the side giving you 73 minutes on a 16GB card. This can be used simultaneously with your tape so that you can have all the backup you need!

The new Sony XDCAM EX camera has arrived! It features a full sized 1920x1080 1/2" picture block that records 1080p native. Recording to solid-state SxS cards, at its best quality on a 8GB card it fits 25mins. Over and Undercranking is also possible in HD and the camera features an always handy HD-SDI out. Another great thing is that the focus ring has a choice of a locked cycle, no more infinite spinning or wondering where you are on the focus! Our current kit includes a tripod, 2 x 8GB card plus 2 x batteries and it goes out for a nifty $250/daily (plus GST).

Pro-Cam have just taken delivery of a new DVCPROHD VTR. The 1400 deck joins our 1200 in the DVCPROHD VTR range, the perfect companions for the Varicam. The 1400 boasts built in HDSDI support with 100Mbps transfer through IEEE 1394. You can convert from an AJ-HDC27 VariCam 50p recording (over 60p) source to native 720p/50 or PAL output with superior 4:2:2 color sampling and independent frame compression using the advanced DVCPRO HD codec.

They have arrived! Pro-Cam is proud to announce the acquisition of 2 x AJ-HPX3000G's. With a full frame 2.2mp 1920x1080 sized 2/3" CCD, the HPX-3000 records on the new AVC-Intra 100 codec at a native 1080 24/25 frame progressive with 4:2:2 sampling.

Transcend 2GB CompactFlash Cards (133x) are now available to purchase from Pro-Cam at $49 (pre GST) $53.90 (inc GST). Compatible with all our SLR cameras and most CF card devices, they're a great addition to any kit.

Samsung LCD TVs are now available for hire from Pro-Cam in 26" and 32" with a choice in colour (black or white) with the 32s. These are fantastic televisions that could double for an agency viewing monitor, or even in the edit suites. Featuring Built in Digital Television and a nifty little tabletop stand these LCDs will suit any situation.

The next generation of broadcast cameras have arrived at Pro-Cam. Solid state media is steadily becoming the next standard in all parts of film and television and is certainly the way of the future. The Panasonic P2 card system simplifies the whole process with flash media housed in a PCMCIA card format which can be read in most standard laptops. The P2 cards are available at Pro-Cam in two sizes, 4GB and 16GB with the 32GB cards arriving in the next few months.

Our new AV-HS300 can handle just about anything! Multi-format HD/SD 6-Inputs Compact live Switcher with DVI input as well as ethernet network interface. It is one compact little device running off DC power perfect for field use.
